God Has Bigger Plans

Weeks before the plane heading for Lesotho even lifted off the ground, making plans but holding them loosely was a common theme in our planning and strategizing meetings. Our overarching goal had remained to share the Gospel and disciple young believers as often as possible while minimizing anything that could potentially waste what little time we had there.  However, unexpected events on a mission trip are inevitable, and although plans get altered and our strength gets depleted, often it is during these circumstances we see God show up!

From car issues to questionable weather conditions, it became apparent that the plans we had previously made would find little success. Our primary mission for the first day was to find an outdoor area that would not only allow room for multiple people to be present, but also allow for the projection of the Jesus Film to be seen well. This meant we needed adequate lighting and for expected storms to be kept at bay. Issues with our vehicle had delayed us, and I feared that it would take the majority of the day to scout out a suitable place to show the film. However, the Lord performed what I believe to be an absolute miracle! After only a few minutes within the valley we found ourselves at a school, and we felt led to ask to use their facilities. The Lord gave us favor, and we were granted permission! Not only did we find a large enough building, but we were also permitted to ask the students to stay after school to watch it. This allowed for several people to attend, ways to alter lighting to make the movie more visible, and for everyone to stay safe from high winds and rainy weather. I became overcome with awe as the Lord orchestrated these events according to His timing and His will.

What I perceived at first to be several setbacks were actually blessings that allowed us to concentrate on ministering to several villages we feared we would be unable to visit. Somehow our time had been stretched, and we actually visited several villages twice! Additionally, we were given enough time to show the Jesus Film at two other locations. God’s plans were far greater than I could have imagined. The Gospel was shared, believers were encouraged and discipled, and Bibles were given to those who memorized scripture. We serve a big God with even bigger plans!
